Unreal Engine game development for ambitious real-time experiences
HAPZ uses Unreal Engine when visual ambition, real-time systems, multiplayer, cinematic storytelling, or world scale call for a deliberate technical foundation. We work in C++ and Blueprints with production decisions tied to the game and target platforms.
Core Capabilities
Unreal Engine 5 (Nanite & Lumen)
Nanite and Lumen evaluated against the art direction, hardware targets, frame budget, and production tradeoffs of your specific project.
C++ & Blueprint Development
Performance-critical systems in C++, rapid iteration with Blueprints. We find the right balance for your project's needs.
Multiplayer & Networking
Unreal's native replication system, dedicated servers, and Steam/EOS integration for competitive and cooperative multiplayer games.
Cinematics & Sequencer
In-engine cinematics, cutscenes, and trailers using Sequencer. Real-time rendering for marketing content and in-game storytelling.
Open World & Large Environments
World Partition, Level Streaming, procedural generation, and HLOD for massive open-world games with seamless loading.
VR & Simulation
VR experiences and training simulations on Meta Quest, SteamVR, and enterprise headsets using Unreal's XR framework.
Real-time experiences need the right production foundation.
Visual ambition, input model, platform targets, and performance budget should shape the Unreal plan from the start.
Tools & Technologies
Our Approach
Scope & Pre-Production
Define platforms, quality targets, art direction, and technical requirements.
Vertical Slice
Build a polished sample of the game — one level, core mechanics, final art — to prove the vision.
Full Production
Agile sprints with weekly builds. Level design, gameplay, VFX, audio, and optimization in parallel.
Polish & Ship
QA, certification, platform submissions, and day-one patch support.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I choose Unreal over Unity?
Unreal excels at high-fidelity 3D, open-world games, realistic rendering, and projects that need Nanite/Lumen. Unity is often better for mobile, 2D, and rapid prototyping. We'll advise honestly during the discovery call.
Do you work with Unreal Engine 5 exclusively?
We primarily work with UE5, but we also maintain projects on UE4. We migrate UE4 projects to UE5 when it makes sense.
Can you build multiplayer in Unreal?
Yes. We've built both client-server and peer-to-peer multiplayer using Unreal's replication system, dedicated servers, and Epic Online Services (EOS).
How does Unreal affect project cost?
Cost depends on scope, visual target, platforms, multiplayer requirements, content volume, and the maturity of the existing project. We scope those decisions before recommending an engine path or budget.
Ready to make the next production decision?
Bring the game, the milestone, or the blocker. We'll discuss the scope, the team context, and whether HAPZ is the right production partner.
